The expressions of a person with differences have an exceptional insight. However, their can voices can be wrongly underestimated just because of the difficulties they live with. Communication can also be very challenging for some people with differences especially if memory can affect comprehension and coping limitations. Everyone has a responsibility to listen and value the voices of hidden differences.

During stress
Stressful situations can affect how a person with differences communicates & how they can express themselves & to listen. It may be harder and can take longer to express their point and to recall information. This is especially they are sharing & reporting mistreatment or hatred.


Memory - listening, widening vocabulary,
Memory can affect some people with difficulties and to express their point. Especially if they are many points to share within a very short amount of time or related to something complicated.


Understanding
On a certain occasions, a person with differences can be misinterpreted on what has been expressed. If a person with differences become stressed or anxious this can affect any expressions made. This includes the points to get across and the ability to recall or describe Infomation effectively.


It can be impossible if a person with differences is put on the spot with being expected to communicate their points as short notice. This includes recalling information, descriptions and explanations.


If a person with differences is receiving unplanned criticism they can face pressurised expectations to justify themselves and to be assertive. If reasonable allowances are not made towards a person Difficulties, it can lead them to be compromised of ability limitations and coping mechanisms.


Valuing expressions
One of the biggest obstacles some people can use a person's hidden differences faces to be undervalued what has been shared, even if everything mentioned was the truth. The kind of reactions that can occur include automatic dismissal or the taking what a person saying with a pinch of salt. This kind dismissal judgements can early occur if the other cannot grasp beyond why they see or have knowledge on.

Main Point

It is important that the expressions from a person with hidden differences are heard and understood.  Their voice should not be judged out of context. Also, their insights need to be considered at all times and not based on perceptions.

They have the right to say how they feel without oppressive or disruptive intervention

The ability to be listened to fully and not to be interpreted inaccurately due to stereotypes and distorted perceptions.

Not use their difficulties to exploit their voice and expressions differently than what the person intended to communicate.

No one should use their difficulties to discredit their voice automatically feel insignificant

  • Tips for the General Public

    Do not automatically dismiss what of a person's difficulties is saying to underestimate what they are saying, even if the matter is not visually obvious.


    There will be occasions when a person with differences cannot memorise a recent situation straight away especially if the situation was fast-moving. Sometimes a person can remember more eventually or only can remember something specific.

  • Tips for general and personal contacts with hidden differences

    On occasions, a person with differences may take longer to articulate their point so please be patient. 


    However, if there are situations there is limited time to listen, then you should respectfully request them to either keep it brief or request to communicate with them again later 


    Never overload a person with differences with too much information or be over persistent on any point.


    Avoid communicating too much for too long as it can affect some people with differences to memorise what was mentioned or to listen effectively.


    If you bring up a matter unplanned, keep it brief and not be persistent. Especially if the matter is critical of dissatisfaction.


    Not to use a person with differences voice to exploit manipulate what was mentioned


  • Tips for Hidden Differences

    Advice for young people and adults with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Social Anxiety


    When preparing for a meeting or attempting to make a particular phone call or to access information or services, make notetaking preperations in advance on what you planed to say. This is important because if you have forgotten a detailed area of you have communicated previously. Then you are likely to to face intolerence of you remebered a previous point and brought this up. This can annoy or irritate others.


    If someone has been very excessive and you feel overloading, ask the other person to slow down or keep the matter very breif.  


    There are occasions when someone can be very intolerant when communicating on what you share and can underestimate anything you mention. This is usually be followed by unpleasant attitudes that can occur, usually for the wrong reasons and display a lack of consideration when communicating with you. It will be your responsibility to speak up if you feel overwhelmed or overloaded. However, if the other person doesn't respect your dignity when standing up for yourself then you should stop communicating with them and do not spend any further time with them. Please be aware when following this example could lead to facing threatening and hostile situations where either they would provoke you emotional upset. Also this can lead to a situation when the other persion can can cause risk causing and harm against your safety. So please be cautious when being assertive or standing up for yourself.


    If you feel you have been unfairly mistreated when accessing a particular service or facility, you should immediately request to speak to their management and mention you may need to take further actions.
