About Summary
Plus Value Awareness is an awareness initiative that provides a family of projects and information focusing on young people & adults with hidden differences.
The overall aim is to look beyond the perceptions and characteristics of a person's difficulties and to focus more on the human aspects. To provide objective information, suggestions and guidance towards Higher Aspirations.
This is made of five principal areas

Dignity
A person with hidden differences should be respected when exercising their dignity, human rights and prerogative. This includes the right to choose, change and have their feelings & expressions heard. Their right to have their say and to challenge issues that are concerning or not right. Also to respect their right to decide situations affecting their lives.
Integration & Inclusion
To have a place in society alongside other members of society. Ranging from employment and social life through to housing and leisure activities. However, we must accept hidden differences in society without prejudice or shaming. Also to be tolerant of their differences in how each other deals with their approach in life.
Participation
To enable inclusivity a person with hidden differences needs to be an active member of society and use their difficulties or prejudice to deny their participation.
Responsibility & Adjustment
We must value & respect a person with hidden differences to take responsibility for issues and situations that affect their lives. At the same time, we must be tolerant and understanding of adjustment methods a person needs to prevent their difficulties affecting their lives and the people around them.
Well Represented
To enable a person with hidden differences to be well represented and not be defined by their difficulties.
This means being represented in decision-making and important issues which affect society as a whole. This means they must be respected and appreciated based on merit and not be typecasting or negative stereotypes & attitudes and cause harm to their positive representation.

Neurodiversity & Disability
Certain projects and features are also created for the Neurodiversity family and the variety of disabilities (visible & non-visible). Plus Value Awareness was launched in 2015 as an umbrella awareness identity as an evolution of the family of specialised and legacy projects since 2000 under Differences Originals (formerly known as Differences and Autism Challenge).
It was created and developed by Project Director Keith McKenzie with over 20 years of awareness as a Neurodiversity campaigner. Keith is also a graphic designer and a participant in salsa dancing classes & events. Also on occasion participated in projects that affect community topics & issues.
In 2018 was nominated for a mental health award by Google and in 2022 was a featured community participant to promote the legacy of Birmingham since the city hosted the Commonwealth Games.
