Smarter Understanding

A special overview based on the core principles of "Differences Originals" and the insight and developments of the project director.

Statement by Keith Mckenzie, Project Director:

There are various ways to interpret information and comprehend the unique challenges faced by individuals. However, forming one-sided conclusions based on limited perspectives can result in distorted understanding, mistreatment and wrong decision-making that may jeopardise one's situation and stability for unjustified reasons.

It is crucial to recognise that every individual is unique, including those with hidden differences related to their abilities, difficulties, challenges, strengths, passions, and expertise. This distinction also extends to individuals sharing specific neurological conditions and anxiety issues, such as ADHD and Dyspraxia, among others.

To address this effectively, everyone need to change from the traditional approach to understanding and adopt a more thoughtful approach in understanding, engaging, listensing to lived experences and supporting individuals with hidden differences, treating them fairly and with respect. This involves looking beyond their challenges and preconceptions, acknowledging their diverse life experiences, and maintaining an open mind free from inaccurate judgments. Overall we must value a person with hidden differences based on a persons's good intenstions and postive quailities.

This project explores various factors to be considered along with some developments of the Project Director.

Over twenty years of awareness experience

Since 2000 the Project director has developed a series of projects campaigns and activities for the past two decades. Incorporating awareness projects by combining art, design creative and marketing. This has led to being involved in specialised activities in the community. This includes presentation talks and exhibition displays exclusively for people with hidden differences including participating in surveys, developing special projects & information content for supporting different awareness events and providing inside and solutions on changes which affect those with hidden differences.

About Project Director Special Developments About Differences Originals

Everyone has a responsibility not to shame
There is a lot of information and awareness projects and neurodiversity campaigns. Despite the variety of information wetly available actually your fingertips there are still many people with closed minds and negative presumptions.
Because of this one-sided negative opinions, judgments and presumptions towards hidden differences. This leads to a person with hidden differences being divided, excluded and denied of opportunities, justice or answers to accountability. This is usually based on stereotyping and one-sided presumptions. Even if somebody attempts to do positive things can use their difficulties to disapprove of their existence and to cause harm to any positive intentions.

Postitive Value Valuing Hidden Differences

So much progress but cannot be complacent
Over a period of time, there have been increasing amounts of positive achievers, role models and change-makers in communities and society. Positive examples include a positive neurodiversity celebration week with an increasing an amount of neurodivergent campaigners, influencers and participants in communities and the rest of society.

It is great that there's a variety of achievers and role models through positive qualities including unique skills and positive attributes. Including so how many steps to improve inclusivity and make sure reasonable allowances are made sure a person with hidden differences is not is disadvantage when seen in society.

However, we can't be complacent and there are still many people and excluded from opportunities. For example a large number of people with the autistic spectrum are excluded from employmnent opportunities for employment compared with the rest of society.

This is based on the research by the United Nations that 80% of autistic people are out of work.
