Our society is made of a variety of backgrounds
There have been so many positive developments in recent years with many achievers from all disabilities and neurodiverse backgrounds. Some have become role models and important decision-makers who affect our lives
Despite the positive progress some of our society's attitudes have moved in the wrong direction. Including increasing negative attitudes, harassment, bullying and hatred.
A person's difficulties have to deal with situations which make them. They have to face many life challenges which most people take for granted.
A person's difficulties are not a choice, so there is no excuse to treat anyone badly like this regardless of hidden differences
So, we need to change the culture of "Them & Us" It is not smart to single out, cause shame, disprove or hate anyone with hidden differences
Facts and figures
According to the Home Office, the amount of hate crime towards all disability have doubled in the past five years in England and Wales from 7,221 in 2018-2019 to 14,242 in 2021-2022.
The point
If you want more people with hidden differences to contribute to society such as employment, education or community participation then we need to change our attitudes which affect their place in society.
Everyone with hidden differences should have the right to function and to be seen and heard. Also, their existence is not for anyone's approval. It's never acceptable and there is no excuse.
We need to change our attitudes on how we wrongly perceive hidden differences. Change from perceptions and improve our understanding and knowledge.
This is why the zero Toxic project was started with a clear message to stop punishing a person's difficulties for existing, everyone is responsible for toxic attitudes and hatred.
Throughout this project, it provides some examples of mistreatments, what everyone can do with tips and guidelines, how we can spread the word
It's now time to be smart It's time to change the agenda towards hidden differences.
Change attitudes stop toxic attitudes and hated
