This project is designed for everyone in society to understand better the life experiences on how an adult or young person with Hidden differences (including Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Social Anxiety) who have an ethic minority. This includes those with a background of Asian (Bangladeshi, Chinese, Indian, Pakistani, Asian other) Black, (Black African, Black Caribbean, African American, Black other) and mixed race

Introduction

There is an unspoken issue that can easily go unnoticed. Within the world of diverse cultures and communities, there are many people with an ethnicity who lives with hidden differences in society can face many challenges and boundaries due to a lack of understanding, tolerance, patience and empathy.

Some people with differences are well understood and have a greater insight and to have good intentions  along with their efforts to adjustable and to improve their sense of purpose. 

However, there are some do face attitudes see a multicultural person with differences negatively worse than how they appear.

Regardless if a person lives with Autism (especially at a mild or moderate level), ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia or Social Anxiety they can be wrongly seen as a taboo when sharing their difficulties & experiences with others. This is partly because of the negative stigma associated with typecasting an extreme negative assumption.

The Importance of value

Regardless of the types a difficulties a person may live with it is important to understand, value and support a person with differences. They can face many life challenges because of the stigma and the misrepresentation they face.

  • Dignity

    Just like everyone else, a person who has autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Social Anxiety who lives hidden related differences is entitled to exercise their dignity & basic human rights. A person with differences faces greater stigma with an ethnicity background. This can mean their voices are automatically ignored as they can be easily be disbelieved and be wrongly misperceived.


    Some guidelines to consider

    * Never to use a person with hidden difficulties to deny their human rights. 

    * Stop using perceptive mindset to insult against a person's difficulties. Especially when are being pushed beyond their coping limitations and when undertaking tasks very challenging. They may appear different but it is not acceptable to make dehumanising comments. Their difficulties are not a choice to stop bothering them.

    * if a person with differences is challenging something wrong or standing up against wrong attitudes you should never dismiss or make ordering attitude. 


  • Natural & Authentic

    It is very important to be aware of how a person with hidden differences can live their lives naturally.  Many people with hidden differences with a ethnicity face many negative stigma they have to hide their difficulties with the masking technique to prevent shame.


    This can lead to greater side effects compared to individuals with a white background with differences.


     The examples of side effects including tiredness, fatigue and longer spells of burnouts especially if they are been physiologically, physically and emotionally compromised 


    In addition a multicultural person with differences can face excessive amount of perceptions of negative characteristics especially of the are not well understood or supported. They can be wrongly accused of lack of pride, wrong judgement (slow, lazy, lacking pride and attention seeker) and others would disregard their difficulties. This means they are at high risk of mental health, & anxiety risk due to excessive amount of destructive criticism, intolerance, impatience, shaming and easy target to be wrongly disrespected.


    All these points needs to be considered when approaching or spending time with an ethnic minority with hidden differences


    * Climate, environment, atmosphere, 

    A variation with surrounding climates, environments and atmosphere may affect a person with differences to undertake and complete tasks or actions. Overbearing surroundings can disrupt how a person with differences manage. It is very essential not to judge the person with differences against their character if they are struggling. It is not a form of bad management or laziness. There are health and other well-being side effects of the limitations are ignored. 



    * Not to randomly test & put on the spot, 

    As mentioned elsewhere an ethnic minority with differences have to frequent mask their difficulties. This can mean their difficulties can be noticed. So if a person with differences display differences of abilities or may appear slower, never use a person with differences to test their abilities with inappropriate judgements of strengths and weaknesses or to put them on the spot which not enabled them to manage situations or to communicate effectively.


    * Not be too demanding, 

    A reminder that a person with difficulties a person with differences has is not a choice or a form of character. So never impose impatient or intolerant demands, otherwise, you will not bring the best out of them


    * Not ignore limitation without shaming

    Because of difficulties a person lives with it does mean do have some limitations on their abilities and coping mechanisms.


    A mentioned elsewhere, negative side effects on the physical health & mental health towards a person with differences. So it essential to not to undermine if to dismiss any kind of limitations. It is not the fault of individuals with differences for the difficulties so you should not be critical, disrespectful or make them shameful.


    * Not impose spontaneous pressures

    There are some expectations to follow anything spontaneous by others when it comes to something out of the ordinary and last minute. This including examples at short notice such as weeks trip abroad or attending a music concert. 


    Before you make a spontaneous request you need to take consideration of a person's difficulties can affect how they cope. 


    Also to consider whenever it was inappropriate time based on their circumstances or what they are going through at the time. You should never attack a person with differences against their character if they react not in a way you to expect from them. 


    In summary, you should not impose spontaneous requests. Instead, talk about it as an idea and listen fully on whether it will be appropriate and in some cases discuss options in detail the make sure person with differences is not going to be compromised in any way.

  • Adjustments

    To enable a person to manage their life and not let their difficulties held them back is essential to understand and value a person with differences way to adjust their daily life. Due to the variating types of difficulties from person to person, the kind of adjustments is not the same for everyone with differences.


    * Routines & procedures to enable to cope, 

    There are variations on particular procedures and routines with the person need to do to maintain their stability and ability to manage several situations and circumstances.

    Examples might include note-taking having regular times out or a mini evaluation.


    * Tools, additional aids & patience

    Adjustment doesn't just apply to procedures but also references or tools. Example if someone with short-term may need to refer to note regularly. Whatever the kind of just explain need to do it must be supported and respected and not be found on or be shamed.


    * not to demonise, block & deny their adjustments, 

    Regarding how you think it's unusual odd any adjustments a person with differences may have to undertake never criticise or to deny the adjustment procedures. Otherwise, you are distrupting their own the way of coping with their daily lives.



  • Expressions

    As  mentioned in this project, a person with differences who have an ethnicity face many stigma they can be wrongly disbelieved for the hidden differences they live with it makes it even harder to explaining how their difficulties affect a specific situation. So it is important not be perceptive and to dismiss their they are sharing or used their difficulties to order them down.


    * Patience

    Some situations it take longer to complete particular tasks recalling information and to digest comprehend information. However it is important not to quickly judge and not to use their difficulties to cause unnecessary strain which affects have a person with differences ability to function.


    * challenging unplanned questions & testing

    Because memory can affect a person with differences, never demand challenging questions or to create toxic arguments. If a person with differences has informed their difficulties never use this to test on the spot with devil's advocate scenarios or any unplanned information which takes them longer to prepare to answer. Don't be offensive or be disrespectful related to their difficulties.



    * Don't pressure for expressions & insight unplanned

    If you notice a person with certain differences in abilities never impose pressurising demands for them to express their experiences on the spot & short notice. Making demands at short notice makes it harder for a person with differences to express their point effectively when they're not as comfortable at the time. Modify your tone on how you speak to them and instead, offer to listen to them when they are more comfortable. 


    However, when you are being informed make sure you stay patient to have an open mind and avoid quick judgement especially when all the expressions or insight are not fully shared.

    Any form of impatience response and demands can lead to comments & guidance which will become unhelpful, making a person with differences feeling inadequate


  • Black & white presumptions

    One of many reasons why many a multicultrual person with differences are reluctant to disclose or to share to others is because of they can be seen on lacking pride and can be wrongly be accused of hiding behind label for not having the same abilities as others. This can leads to critical or heated discussion and arguments which can cause unnecessary amount of shame.


    In addition many people with differences with an ethic origin can be wrongly associated with negative typecasts such as harmful criminal offences, terrorism and offences such as staking and even worse. This is regardless of a person never have any criminal offences.


    Here is number of guidelines to follow

    * Never make wrong presumptions are made become of the kind of difficulties is not visible leading to false typecasting band hostile accusations.


    * Not make a simplistic and inapporate suggestions which is unhelpful and irrelevant with have context & insight.


    * Never to profile an articulate and independent person with hidden differences as less intelligent


    * Stop making belittling & demonising language against a person's difficulties


    * Never make negative presumptions with ordering language against them when they have done nothing wrong including their ability speeds


    * If a person with differences is asking for help which others can manage never communicate to them which implies that they are lazy or a nuisance.



  • Appreciated

    As mentioned elsewhere a person with differences who live with an ethnicity can face greater disrespect, rejections and intolerance. However, many people with differences will still find ways to attempts to be considerate and to look out for others. This includes helping others out providing assistance or guidance. There are no generalisation levels of efforts and considerate a person with differences makes and it varies from person-to-person.


    * Showing appreciation of a efforts & consideration

    It is important to show appreciation when a person with differences when they are making special consideration effort and action. Especially when they face greater pressures and intolerance and in some cases unfair disrespect. 


    * Regular appreciation reminders

    Every so often is important to remind show appreciation and why. Especially if any efforts a person with differences cannot be made by anyone else


    * The appreciation exchange

    A person with differences must be regularly is being appreciated because it will affect how is so appreciated to others. In other words, if a person with differences is constantly being criticised, disrespected or being undervalue and not likely to show that in return to anyone.



  • Not downgrade intelligence

    * Provoke or manipulate to silence their voice

    If a person with differences as taken action or to speak up against something that is not right never use technically, false allegations & inconsistent responses to silence their voice. This is damaging their liberation and is an indirect form of discrimination by violating their basic human rights 


    * Challenge their ability against their difficulties

    if a person is sharing something important but their difficulties affect fully articulating points or to recall information never make remark what they are sharing. You are using their difficulties to take them less seriously and they will see that as an insult.


    * Making inappropriate suggestions against expressions

    if a person with differences is saying important concern and issue never respond with inappropriate suggestions with the implies that are less intelligent. Example if a person is sharing an increasing amount of harassment and hate crimes don't make suggestions go to a learning disability social group. It's a form of misguiding insults which imply less intelligent presumptions.


  • Functioning life

    Because of a multicultural person with hidden differences feel pressured to mask their difficulties, they can face several situations of being misjudged and mistreated.


    Some people with differences can be noticed and can be wrongly judged in the receiving end of constant discrimination and hatred. Sadly this can lead to receive hatred threats and physical abuse and physical assaults. These experiences can be wrongly disbelieved and harm their ability to integrate or to blend into society. These experiences can not only caused a harmful effect to health & well being but also can damage or being forced out of a variety of life opportunities which most people takes for granted. (Examples including employment, education, social inclusive environments, activity groups, relationships and friendships)


    It very important to understand a multicultural person with differences better along supporting and value their place in society.

    Avoid demands of unrealistic expectations and realise the limitation on their abilities and coping mechanisms


    Be aware that there are very dangerous consequences when their sense of value is not respected and when their coping mechanisms are pushed to the limit.


    Always give them their own personal space including time outs and to create their personal development.


    Modify how you communicate and interact to make sure they fully understand. But do not go excessive or overloading.


    it is essential to show support and to respect their adjustments actions and routines for a person with differences, no matter how odd or unusual it is.

Final Point

Everyone can follow the advice on this project with empathy, patience, encouragement with an open mind you can get more out of a person with differences and be positive to your family, friends, relationships and all paths of society.


Also, many people with differences have positive strengths and positive qualities and attributes. Focus on these more and you can more out of them positively.
