Introduction background

The Plus Value Awareness initiative is a family of awareness projects and services with an aim towards a better sense of Value towards people with hidden differences. This can be associated with associated conditions can be misinterpted with certain elements of Mental Health or Learning Disability at mild and moderate levels.

Conventional Attitudes
The conventional approach to awareness, understanding and finding steps to moving forward such as support, treatment tends to focus more on the medical aspects and general perceptions along with interventions. These examples mentioned can be inappropriate and not always relevant to maintain a person with differences sense of value or to challenge society's attitudes and judgements. Especially when we are living in a more demanding, judgemental and in some cases a very intolerant society.

So, the conventional approach this can leads to certain destructive reactions along with closed minds judgements such as "making excuses", "hiding behind their labels" or "not trying enough".

This is usually referred from distorted myths, stereotypes and misrepresented profiling (without any direct contact to have a relationship and different people with differences), this can lead to a person with invisible to be discredited and be wrongly undervalued at default due to being unfairly misrepresented.

Changing Attitudes
We need to break the myths and stereotypes and realise every person with differences should not face any broad brushed treatments & assumptions.

Just like everyone else they are humans with feelings with their insights and perspective as well as being independent, articulate, with intellect, dialect and passionate with many strengths and quality which are beneficial in society and the wider world.

They have their own experiences and insight, however, many people use their conditions to easily have their experiences ignored or not taken seriously.

The human aspects are more important rather than medical aspects of the condition to make sure their sense of value life in society is stable.
