Timeline Between Christmas & New Year
From 27th December - 30th December

The period between Christmas and New Year can be a challenging time for some people. Especially if you had a negative experience or you are going through an unresolved situation that can affect how you feel. During this period of time, you need to have several strategies, including relaxation breathing techniques, regular outdoor walks in safe areas and preparing to go to specific leisure attractions where you feel comfortable.
You can also exercise specific hobbies. For instance, if you have a creative plan or practice your painting and drawing. Or practice Specific sporting activities in your garden or at an open park.
Try to use your contact lists and notes to get in touch with different people each day or every other day. However, don't react too persistently, if one of your contacts does not reply when there might be a reason which cannot be explained in the short term.

For family members
If you wish to get in touch with a neurodivernet family member avoid offloading your emotions (such as frustrations, grudges, or unresolved challenges) as this can unintentionally diminish the other person’s positive spirit, especially around Christmas.
Some experiences may not feel relevant to you, but every person has the right to be listened to and heard. Never unload your emotions at a time when a neurodivergent person is denied the space to share theirs without being made to feel insignificant. Likewise, avoid expressing rage, resentment, or prolonged frustration.
Keep conversations short and focused, ideally no longer than 15–20 minutes.
Overloading emotional discussions not only makes it harder for a neurodivergent person to offer support or empathy, but can also lead to emotional strain, alienation, and harm to their mental health. This may disrupt their coping strategies, sense of purpose, relationships, and future opportunities.
For Friends and Acquaintances
During the festive season, some people have more regular contact than others outside their family environment. However, some individuals (including neurodivergent people) who may have little or no connection beyond family. While some may feel content, others may experience loneliness or isolation.
If you are a friend or acquaintance of a neurodivergent person, consider reaching out with a message, phone call, or video call. This small gesture can significantly lift someone’s spirit, especially if they are feeling low, stressed, or experiencing worrying or reflective thoughts.
