A series of information and guides are developed in connection with "Is this the right value ?" project "Non-verbal abuse".
This project which highlight awareness against the kind of prejudice which people with people with invisible difficulties faces which can harm their sense of value and their way of life.
INFORMATION FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE JUDGEMENTAL
* Heckling behaviour towards someone who may be slightly different is a form of offensive behaviour and it is no laughing matter.
* the person who you cause upset will have the right to share to officials others the offence you have caused.
* Think about the harm you cause to their lives and their ways of life.
* Remember they have no reason to disrespect you so theirs no excuse to insult them
* Keep your judgements to yourself don't bother them, stay out of their way & let them get on with their life.
FOR ANYONE WHO WITNESS ANY INCIDENTS
* Remember the kind prejudice they face is not their fault, therefore, you never see it as a situation "that's not my problem".
* If you noticed someone being singled out being abused & they ask for your self or very upset. Think & bear in mind you not see it as not my problem and its reflection on the ignorant attitudes which are wrong. Therefore they shouldn't suffer in silence.
* Offer to help them but & make them a suggestion.
* If they reject your offered help don't take the matter personally. This situation is affecting their feelings & their ability to function. However, you can still help in other ways including informing their situation to the non-emergency police forces, security staff and member of staffs as a witness & share what's happened.
FOR ANYONE WHO NOTICE THE AFFECTED EMOTIONALLY UPSET OR IN DISTRESS
* Refrain your judgement from seeing them as going crazy or out of control.
* As important reminder that they have feelings too.
* If you noticed what has happened then it is important to be aware on what lead to them to feel upset. They more likely to put up with similar situations too often and they have simply had enough. Especially if what they are going through is affecting their ability function in day to day life & in society.
* Do not lecture them on how they perceived. The affected will see this as attacking their difficulties and what they are going through. This sort of communication will be causing them to cope worse
* Never make patronising comments such, "you brought yourself to it", "rise above it" or " get a grip", remember what they going through is not a trivial situation and the prejudice they are facing something that is not their fault.
